why there might never be a Vista sp1...(codename Vienna)
according to gossips found in many places on the web, actually not gossips but founded stories, Windows Vista might just be a temporary OS between XP and the "real" next OS generation: codename Vienna. According to this article of PC World, the Microsoft Team got so busy in the making of SP2 for XP (major security issues back in 2003), that they just left Vista development behind for a while. The result is that many features that should have been implemented are not, like this new file system that was supposed to replace NTFS, and other things kept secret...The planning is now to release Vienna in a bit more than two years, by the end of 2009. In these conditions I can well imagine that the step of a SP1 release for Vista could be easily skipped, unless some really major security flaws came out of Vista in the following months.

I do not believe Vienna will be released in 2009, Vista was supposed to be released in 2003-2004, and wasn't. As always, there will be delays.
But if MS keep to their word, Vista will get SP1 this year, although I expect there to be delays.
HI Justin. Vienna was a 2000 issue as well. It's funny, MS is bringing all their old softwares to the future and charging more. Now there's foresight, lol. Let's wait 7 years and charge an arm and a leg for it. You can read more here...
